Terms of Use
Last updated: October 18, 2026
Oath is free to start. Oath Pro is a weekly or yearly subscription that renews automatically, or a one-time lifetime purchase, all handled by Apple. Your vault is yours, so keep a backup and your websites’ recovery codes: we can’t restore them for you.
1. About these terms
These terms govern your use of the Oath app, its AutoFill extension and this website, provided by the Oath team (“Oath”, “we”, “us”). By using Oath you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Oath. Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled.
You must be able to accept these terms yourself, or use Oath with the permission of a parent or guardian. You are responsible for purchases made with your Apple Account.
2. Free and Oath Pro
The free version stores up to 10 codes, 25 passwords and 10 passkeys and includes the lock, Trash, import, backup and export. Oath Pro removes those limits and adds the Pro features described in the app at the time of purchase, such as AutoFill for codes and passwords and multiple spaces. Signing in with a passkey you have saved is always free.
- Weekly and Yearly are auto-renewable subscriptions in the Oath Pro group.
- Lifetime is a one-time, non-consumable purchase with no recurring charge. “Lifetime” means access for as long as Oath is offered and supported, not a promise that every feature will exist forever.
Payment and renewal
Prices, billing periods and any free trial are shown in the app and in Apple’s purchase sheet before you pay. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
Free trials
Eligible new subscribers may receive a 3-day free trial of a weekly or yearly plan. Eligibility is decided by the App Store. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts to the paid subscription shown when you started it.
Cancelling, restoring and refunds
Manage or cancel subscriptions in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone, or in your Apple Account settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Pro stays active until the end of the paid period. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Use Restore in the app with the same Apple Account to restore purchases. Buying Lifetime does not cancel an existing subscription automatically. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law.
When Pro ends
Your items stay in your vault and remain viewable, editable and exportable. Pro-only features such as AutoFill for codes and passwords stop, and you can’t add items beyond the free limits until you subscribe again.
3. Your accounts and your data
Oath is a tool that stores credentials you give it. Because your vault is encrypted on your device and we have no copy of it:
- We cannot recover a lost vault, a forgotten backup password, or codes for an account you can no longer reach.
- Keep an up-to-date encrypted backup and the recovery codes websites give you when you set up two-factor authentication.
- Deleting a code from Oath does not turn off two-factor authentication on the website.
- AutoFill depends on iOS and on how each website or app is built. It may not be offered on every sign-in page.
- Keep your iPhone protected with a passcode and keep Oath’s lock on if others can use your device.
4. License and acceptable use
The app is licensed to you under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Standard EULA). These terms add to that license and do not reduce rights it grants you.
Don’t use Oath to access accounts you are not authorized to use, to break the law, or to reverse engineer, resell or interfere with the app, except where the law allows it.
5. Names and trademarks
Names and icons of websites and services appear in Oath only to help you recognize your own accounts. They belong to their owners, who do not endorse Oath. Oath is not affiliated with the Initiative for Open Authentication (OATH) or any company that has used the name.
6. Disclaimers and liability
We work hard to keep Oath reliable and secure, but no software is free of faults. To the extent the law allows, Oath is provided “as is”, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of access to accounts, arising from your use of Oath. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
7. Changes and contact
We may update these terms when Oath changes. We will post the new version here with a new date. If you keep using Oath after a change, the updated terms apply. You can stop using Oath at any time.
